Rachael has found the ultimate work-life balance through BCArc.
Rachael, a long-time employee, has spent nearly thirteen years with BCArc working in numerous positions such as Residential, the Center for Family Development, and Transitions.
“Every program is a great program at BCArc,” she exclaimed. Though now she has turned a new page and is working as a Community-Based Day Service specialist at the Northview program.
“This job is as perfect as it gets.”
As a working mom, family has been among her highest priorities. For that reason, location, flexibility, and hours were all key selling points when she decided to begin her career at Northview this last year.
Northview is community-based, and provides individuals opportunities to not only enter the community but also make a positive change through volunteer work at local sites. Socialization is also emphasized in this program, allowing Rachael and fellow staff members alike to not only form strong relationships with the members but also to make a direct impact, one that Rachael coined as most impactful.

Days at Northview are overall relaxed and predictable, with planned outings and activities to keep members engaged and interested. This schedule allows for the flexibility Rachael needs as a mom for those unexpected sick calls and last-minute school pickups. “This job is as perfect as it gets,” Rachael said. “BCArc is a great employer, they care for you as individuals. When I have needed support, they have never given me a hard time.”
“I have found my home away from home at Northview.”
“BCArc loves to do stuff for their staff,” she said.
Rachael loves that BCArc not only provides support in the workspace but also further demonstrates their acknowledgment and support through their annual staff appreciation picnic. Rachael and her fiancé Ken, who she met through BCArc, look forward to the event each year as they are not only able to hang out with coworkers in a social setting but also they are able to bring their twin girls, who especially enjoy jumping on the bouncy house.
Beyond her typical work days, Rachael enjoys spending time with her kids at home, whether it’s baking, going for walks, or going for swims during the hot summer months. Though despite enjoying the sunny days alongside her kids, she shared, “I have found my home away from home at Northview.”
