Kyle Harvey oversees employment services. She attended Ann’s retirement celebration at Walmart!

Ann, an individual deeply valued by BCArc, celebrated her retirement with her Walmart team after 19 years as a sales associate. For Ann, working was not about the money but the opportunity to help people, socialize with co-workers, and meet new people; she will remember the friendly faces she met along the way. The sense of purpose she found at Walmart fueled her love and passion for her position.

Ann said, “I felt valued going to work, knowing my section in the clothing department was always going to be organized and spotless.”

Working with BCArc’s Employment Services helped Ann thrive in her job. They provided her with daily support and assistance with questions and challenges she faced in her position. There are over 100 other individuals just like Ann, who have been supported in their employment journey.

Regan, who works in Employment Services, said, “She was able to navigate difficult times and succeed.”

Now that Ann is retired, the world is her oyster.  She is having a retirement party with friends and family and is also planning a vacation following the festivities. She will be spending a month in Florida with her brother Micheal.

Her brother thanks “Her wonderful long-term job coach, Matt, Regan, and all the others who went so above and beyond for her. Brenda, who has worked with Ann at Walmart the entire time she has been there, has done so much over the years to help Ann.”

Friends, family, and Coworkers left notes of endearment for Ann.

Following her vacation, Ann will be continuing her relationship with BCArc, and going to a day program in Lee. There she will continue going on outings with longtime friends, and her best companion Susan. She is excited to get started.
