Break-out 2 All about Me: Creating a Plan for the Future
The information and resources you have collected over the years on your loved one can be so overwhelming. This workshop will help you determine what — and how — the information can be passed along to future caregivers and advocates.

Break-out 3 Running on Empty? Self-Care Planning for the Care Provider
Participants will gain awareness of the signs of cumulative stress and compassion fatigue in their role as caregivers. They will learn how to integrate stress reduction strategies into an individualized self-care plan. It is recommended that participants complete the Professional Quality of Life Scale version 5 prior to the workshop. Find the form here: www.proqol.org.

Speakers and Panelists

Keynote speaker Frederick M. Misilo, Jr.
Expert in Estate Law for Special Needs Planners
Attorney Fred Misilo is Chair of the Trust and Estate Department of Fletcher Tilton, a regional law firm with offices in Boston, Framingham, Providence, Worcester and Cape Cod. Attorney Misilo is a trust and estate attorney with over thirty years of experience in all aspects of estate planning, estate administration, trust management and asset protection. He brings a seasoned approach to client who have complex needs in succession planning in a variety of settings and circumstances, including special needs and elder law. Attorney Misilo is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Florida. He is certified by the American Bankers Association as a Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA). He is a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners and the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys.

He is a Past President of both The Arc of the United States and The Arc of Massachusetts. He serves currently as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Fallon Health, a community based, non-profit health insurance company. He is a former Chair of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and was elected to three terms to the Holden Board of Selectmen, serving as its Chair for three years. Attorney Misilo also served as Deputy Commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services during the Weld administration and as the Executive Director of Harbor Area Community Services, Inc., then, a Boston-based service provider of residential supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Kerry Mahoney will present Break-out 2 All about Me: Creating a Plan for the Future
Kerry received her BS in Psychology/Rehabilitation Counseling from Emmanuel College. Kerry currently is the Director of Education and Outreach at The Arc of Massachusetts and also oversees SUPPORT brokers. Kerry’s interest and expertise is person-centered training for transition-aged students and she has worked to pilot these initiatives nationwide.

Dr. David Boyer will present Break-out 3 Running on Empty? Self-Care Planning for the Care Provider
He
s a licensed psychologist in Massachusetts who has long-standing experience working with children and adolescents who suffered from trauma. He has also worked with children and adults with developmental disabilities and is currently a consulting psychologist for the Berkshire County Arc Traumatic Brain Injury program.
