Jessica Mullaly is a Residential Support staff at Housatonic who primarily works overnight shifts to make sure the individuals have everything they need to get a good night’s sleep and to wake up in the morning.
“It means waking up every day and helping someone else have a good day,” Jessica says, reflecting about her role. “I wake up my ladies in the morning and help them get their breakfast, their meds, and pick out their outfits so that they feel good about themselves — positive engagements with them to make their day start off the best it can.”
Jessica is recognized by staff as going above and beyond in her work. She has been at Housatonic for many years, with some past experience at Greylock and working with the Social Development Center. However, it is the connections she has made at Housatonic that have inspired others to nominate her. Every quarter, Berkshire County Arc nominates staff members who have gone above and beyond in their day-to-day work with our organization. This quarter, Jessica was one of the staff who was honored as Employee of the Quarter.

Jessica’s connection with the organization spans throughout her life. As a child she had family members that worked with the organization. She knew early on that she was interested in following in their footsteps and helping to make a positive impact in the lives of the individuals we serve. Jessica graduated from Taconic High School and is a certified clinical medical assistant.
Something that stood out about Jessica is her dedication to her work and the people she has gotten to know. She has recently been praised for taking time out of her days off to visit with an individual who was moved to a nursing home in Boston.
Jessica not only works hard as a full-time staff member, but also as a full-time mother of two young children, who she is the most proud of. “I’m a mother, and that is probably my greatest achievement, my children.” When she is not working for BCArc, she enjoys reading, long-boarding, spending time with friends, and most of all finding new adventures to go on with her two sons.
Jessica spends her days and evenings creating a positive atmosphere for her fellow staff, her individuals, her family, and anyone who knows her. This fall, Jessica will be celebrating working for the organization for 16 years. This award means a lot to her, and she feels honored to be recognized for her hard work.
