“I’m proud of the way I’ve stuck around through both good and bad times.”

Julie has faced many challenges since she started at BCArc six years ago. Working through the Pandemic, which brought its struggles, also created great memories with her coworkers and the individuals that live at Coleman Road. Having worked in human services for pretty much her whole life, Julie has dedicated most of her time and energy to helping others.

“I like taking care of people,” she said. “I’m not happy unless I’m helping someone.”

Julie works the 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. shift. Her job involves everything from giving medication, helping prepare dinner, doing household chores, and, most importantly, talking with the individuals that live in her house. When describing the atmosphere at the home between her and her coworkers, Julie says there is “a sense of teamwork” and they “all work together to make sure the house runs smoothly.”

“I like taking care of people,” she said. “I’m not happy unless I’m helping someone.”

Julie’s favorite memory from her time at BCArc is bringing the individuals in her house to the annual Christmas party. Julie talked about how excited the individuals are to be able to participate in the festivities, saying, “You are never too old to be happy with a gift from Santa.”
