Benedict lives a busy life. As a father of four, a member of the Air Force, and a student pursuing his master’s degree, there is always something to do.

Benedict Jallah is one of BCArc’s Employees of the Quarter. His nominator described him as someone who “exemplifies what is being asked of our Relief staff day in and day out.”
Still, he came to BCArc because he was looking for something more.
At BCArc, relief staff work hours of their choosing. It was for this reason that Benedict initially joined Berkshire County Arc (BCArc). He describes the program’s flexibility as “applaudable,” and something that “fit his busy schedule very well.”
“I want to stay here as long as I can.”
Though Benedict came for the program’s flexibility, he stayed for the people. He states, “BCArc is good to their people—to both their employees and their individuals. I want to stay here as long as I can.”
Working at one of BCArc’s Brain Injury Homes, Benedict’s job is to “help individuals with brain injuries become more independent,” whether it be with daily living activities, or taking the individuals out shopping, to the movies, or doctors’ appointments.
“They are all good people… It’s really amazing to know them, to help them, to hear their stories.”

When asked about his favorite memories at BCArc, Benedict can’t name just one. To him, “Even having conversations with the individuals are memorable.” Cracking jokes together, bonding over shared conversations of their families, their military experiences, and their backgrounds, Benedict shares, “They are all good people… It’s really amazing to know them, to help them, to hear their stories.”
“We are not dealing with machines, we are helping people, like us.”
Benedict was named one of BCArc’s Employees of the Quarter. His approach: “We are not dealing with machines, we are helping people, like us.”
“Every little thing we do, down to the simplest things, makes all of the difference, and we have to make a difference: for them, for us, and for our community.”
