Terry, a BCArc employee of 23 years, has found her second home, one in the home of others.

Located in the rolling hills of Lenox Dale, Terry, a sleep-in residential support worker, enjoys her late nights and early mornings with her residents.
“I’m really happy.”
Growing up as a natural caregiver, Terry spent most of her youth surrounded by those who needed her most, from babysitting, daycare work, nannying, and even a camp counselor. Once Terry entered her 20s, her parents started providing Adult Foster Care, opening her to the world of disability care. This enabled Terry to form friendships and appreciate the many developmentally disabled individuals that her parents cared for through the years. It was an undeniable truth: Terry had found her calling, and that’s where BCArc came in.
Having young kids, the hours were more than ideal. Home for bedtime every night and then returning in the morning after a night’s sleep, Terry was able to feel fully present all while providing for her family. After twenty-three years and with her kids fully grown, Terry is still here.
Now in the same house for over thirteen years, Terry has found another reason to stay, and that is the residents she works for. Working alongside the four men who reside in the quaint home, Terry has had the fulfilling pleasure of getting to know each of the individuals’ varying personalities, passions, and humor.
“We all get along really well,” she remarked. Entering each shift, she anticipates the kind hugs and the energetic buzz that each morning brings.
“It brings me deep satisfaction and happiness to be someone that the guys at Golden Hill can rely on for compassionate care whether that be physical or emotional. I love my guys!”
Outside of work, Terry enjoys reading, thrifting, spending time with friends and has a newfound love for travel, a passion she can fulfill, all thanks to BCArc.
