The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is now requiring that all staff wear face masks when working in residential programs. We will distribute masks to all houses today and tomorrow.  While we have supplies to last the next few weeks, we do not yet have enough to last for months. For that reason, we suggest each house tracks distribution. For surgical masks, each mask can be used for two shifts (unless visibly soiled). Save the mask in a sealed plastic bag after the first shift. Throw out the mask after the second shift. We will also distribute hand-sewn masks as they are made. Please mark each mask with a name. They can be washed and re-used after two shifts. Save these as well in a sealed plastic bag.
Both homemade or surgical masks may be used. Remember that a mask should be used in addition to other COVID-19 safety steps. We still need to wash our hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds, continuously disinfect the house, and adhere to all other safety rules.

March 19, 2020 update
Due to increased risk, we are moving to more restrictive measures of NO VISITORS in any BCArc programs, homes, or offices until further notice. This includes prohibiting families from visiting. The exception will be for essential medical services. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis approved by the Administration. Please understand that this restriction is intended for the safety of the individuals and all the staff.
